All main meetings are held on Wednesdays at 7.30 p.m. and take place at The Judith Telfer Centre, Exmouth Community College, Gipsy Lane, Exmouth, Devon EX8 3AF unless otherwise stated. The Selection Committee will also need Prints early in the season for the SDL, Digital images for the WCPF DPIC by December for Competition in February; Digital Images for the Mix & Match; Digital Images for the SDL Competition by end of February and both Digital & Print Images for the Horseshoe Trophy by end of February.

19:30 - 21:30 Wednesday 5th Sept Judith Telfer Centre, Exmouth Community College, Gypsy Lane, Exmouth. EX8 3AF  First Evening of the 2018 - 2019 season. Introduction to the Programme.  South Devon International Salon Images.  The images shown are the accepted and award winning images in the following categories: Colour, Mono, Creative and Nature.   The South Devon Salon is organised by Newton Abbot Camera Club and attracts thousands of entries from across the world.   Usually a number of our members enter this competition which accepts entries from 21st April until 15th July.   
19:30 - 21:30 Tuesday 11th Sept  Holly Tree Inn, 161 Withycombe Village Road, Exmouth. EX8 3AN Audio Visual (AV)  Group session 1: At these sessions led by our Chair Ian Bateman FRPS MPAGB AV-AFIAB APAGB there is the opportunity to learn how to combine still and sometimes moving images together in a presentation mostly using the program 'Pictures to Exe'.  Members find out how to put their images to music and incorporate sound effects and voice overs. There is the opportunity to critique each others AVs and to watch and discuss AVs from all over the world. Some members work on AVs they can show on our own project evenings and or in AV competitions.  Submit up to 4 DPIs taken in the summer by 10th Sep
19:30 - 21:30 Wednesday 12th Sept Judith Telfer Members' Evening –  Up to 4 Digitally Projected Images (DPIs) each taken in the summer.  At the end of the 2017 - 2018 season members were asked to participate in a lucky dip challenge giving them 2  different categories from a list of 20.  Then members could choose 2  other different categories from a list of 20, so having a total of 4 different categories altogether.  These images were to be taken at any time or anywhere between 26th April  and 4th September 2018 inclusive.  When viewed on the screen members have to guess which category each photo represents.  Entries needed for Competition 1; Summer DPIs by 10th Sep
19:30 - 21:30 Tuesday 18th Sept  Holly Tree  Digital Discussion Evening: On these Tuesday evenings led by one of our own members John Perriam DPAGB AFIAP and other experienced members, there is the opportunity to learn about and revisit different techniques using different programmes such as Photoshop and Lightroom.     
19:30 - 21:30 Wednesday 19th  Sept Judith Telfer Speaker Matt Whorlow : 'Enlightenment - Landscape photography around the South West'.  Matt divides his time between landscape photography and wedding, portrait and commercial work.  Matt sees a link between his landscape and wedding photography as he likes to capture much more than a mere representation of the scene or the people.  He aims to capture the emotion and atmosphere of a scene and will treat us to his photos of Dartmoor and the coasts of Cornwall and Devon.   
19:30 - 21:30 Wednesday 26th Sept Judith Telfer Competition 1: This is the first of four competitions run across the year.  The categories are Mono prints, Colour Prints and DPIs.  Members can enter a maximum of 4 images with no more than 2 images in each category.  For example a member could enter 2 mono prints, 1 colour print and 1 DPI.  Or 0 mono prints, 2 colour prints and 2 DPIs.   
19:30 - 21:30 Friday 28th Sept  Holly Tree Print Group:  These sessions led by one of our own members Derrick Holliday ARPS give members the opportunity to view prints and discuss different aspects such as composition, contrast and orientation such as portrait and landscape and much more.  There is the chance to look at colour and mono prints on different types of paper and different types of mount. Members if they wish can bring along their own prints for a friendly critique.    Sometimes members work together to produce prints on a particular theme.  
19:30 - 21:30 Wednesday 3rd Oct Judith Telfer Speaker: Alex Nail 'Timelapse and Mountain Photography' - Alex finds 'Time-lapse' is an engaging medium through which he captures the landscape at its most changable and spectacular. A large portion of his commercial work involves time-lapse photography for tourism and conservation organisations  in the UK.  Alex is well travelled  and has designed and built an ultralight time-lapse rig to allow him to shoot footage in remote locations.   Alex is at Newton Abbot Camera Club on 2nd Oct

19:30 - 21:30 Wednesday 10th Oct Judith Telfer Speaker: David Shaw 'Black White Infra Red'.  For David the small details are as important to him as the bigger picture, and he is always looking for natural abstract patterns. He finds that the use of black and white can be effective with this and as we will see he  has found himself more and more drawn to monochrome, including infrared.

19:30 - 21:30 Wednesday 24th Oct Judith Telfer Speaker: Simon Caplan 'Extraordinary Ordinary'.  When looked at and captured through the lens in the right way, even the most mundane object can be transformed into an extraordinary work of art. Through these unique 'found' still life photographs, Simon  aims to reveal the hidden beauty that generally lays undiscovered in the environment around us.    
19:30 - 21:30 Wednesday 31st Oct Judith Telfer The Exe Estuary; Facts and curiosities',  an illustrated talk by Mary Solway, Exmouth and District University of the Third Age. 19:30 - 21:30  Wednesday 28th Nov  Dawlish and Teignmouth  South Devon League Print Competition:  EPG, Crediton, Dawlish, Newton Abbot.  There are two battles for the South Devon League trophy the first being this print competition followed by a DPI competition in the spring.  We enter 15 images with no more than 2 images from each member.

19:30 - 21:30 Wednesday 6th Feb Judith Telfer Speaker: Robert Harvey BA ARPS EFIAP 'Wildlife in all seasons'.  A return visit by Robert  who will show us that exciting wildlife photographs do not require overseas travel! Featuring owls, kingfishers, puffins, hares, otters, seals and purple emperor butterflies, his talk shows how, when and where to make striking images of iconic British species in the wild.    Robert is at Newton Abbot on 5th Feb
TBC Sunday 10th Feb Corn Exchange  WCPF Digitally Projected Inter-Club (DPIC) Competition.  18 images from each club with no more than 4 from each member.  Usually up to 60 clubs in the region enter this competition.  This is judged by 3 judges who award a maximum of 5 for each image.

19:30 - 21:30 Wednesday 13th Feb Judith Telfer Composition night: tutorial followed by sample prints with mounts for you to recompose and discuss in groups; After the break a Critique session led by one of our own members John Perriam DPAGB AFIAP looking at and discussing dpis.

Exmouth and Exeter take it in turns to put up an image on the screen and then Exmouth or Exeter have to find a 'good' match. 1 point for a 'good' match and 1 point for the best of the two images just seen.  An evening with friendly banter on both sides! 19:30 - 21:30 Wednesday 20th  Mar Judith Telfer Speaker: Clive Haynes 'Pandora's box of Creativity, Image and imagination'.  Clive is primarily concerned and interested in 'making pictures' by using photography as a medium of artistic expression. He enjoys the unique transposition of reality that photography involves, especially when combined with the techniques of multi imaging,   toning and hand tinting.   Clive is at Newton Abbot on 19th and Exeter on 21st March; DPIs required for the Panel Competition; Bring prints on the night
TBC Friday Mar Crediton South Devon League DPI Competition:  EPG, Crediton, Dawlish, Newton Abbot.  This is the second and last part of this competition for the coveted trophy.  15 images from each club with no more than 2 from each member.  
19:30 - 21:30 Wednesday 27th Mar Judith Telfer Speaker: Victoria Hillman 'Wonderful World of Macro Photography' This is no ordinary macro photography talk, it focuses on creative macro photography in the field.  Victoria will cover what macro photography is, the equipment needed, challenges and how to over come them as well as the little extras that she recommends you carry in your bag at all times.

19:30 - 21:30 Wednesday 10th Apr Judith Telfer Speakers: Nick and Heather Bodle -  Nick and Heather from Launceston Camera Club will showcase their many prints including scenes from Dartmoor, the Lake District and Scotland.  Nick will share with us his mono landscapes and Heather will show us her landscapes and still life.    
TBC Saturday  TBC Village Hall Clyst St Mary EX5 1BG WCPF AV Competition  -   The Coote Challenge Cup will be awarded to the winner of the “Short” Competition.    The Presidents Salver will be awarded to the winner of the “Long” Competition. The Photo Harmony Trophy will be awarded for the best Photo Harmony Sequence.   The M.A.D. trophy is awarded to the winner of the audience vote.  The Innovation Award Trophy is for something 'different'.  Join the audience, to enjoy a wide variety of Audio Visual presentations, and to see the work of other photographers who expand their interests by creating image sequences which can be projected at their clubs, or shown privately in formats suitable for tablets, smart phones, and HD Television                                                                                                                                                                                   The deadline for entries is usually in February.

TBC Saturday  May  TBC Devon Clubs Battle.   For this we submit one print panel produced by 5 different club members and 5 DPI images. Tophies are usually awarded for the Best Panel, Best Digital Set, Best Overall Print Winner and Best Overall Digital Image. Certificates are usually awarded for 2nd and 3rd places in the same sections.  
TBC Saturday  May  TBC WCPF Members Exhibition is usually held over a fortnight in May.  The categories are usually 3 print classes - Open, Mono, Nature and 4 Projected Digital Images (PDI) - Open, Nature, Creative and Photo Travel. The exhibition  has PAGB Patronage  and Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals plus Selectors Ribbons and Highly Commended Certificates (at the selectors discretion)  are usually awarded in each class.

The ‘Margaret Aven’ trophy for the entrant with the most acceptances across all 7 classes, and the ‘Best Wildlife’ trophy in the digital and print Nature classes are usually  awarded.
